  • Elmer Ellsworth Gorton b.1/11/1863 in Porter's Mills, WI d.1940 m. Alice May Hoyt d.1920, second m. Naomi 1923 with sons Chauncey b.1924 and Marvin b.1925.
  • Alonzo Willian Gorton b.5/19/1828 in New Lisbon, NY d. Portersville, WI [sic] m. Elnora Mary Perry d.6/1880 second m. Mary Ann (Abele) Wooley 1882 builder of lumber and flour mills.
  • Jacob Gorton b.1/21/1807 New Lisbon, NY d.1/8/1893 Eau Claire, WI m. Lucinda Bowen Eddy b.5/13/1810 New Lisbon, NY d.4/6/1890 builder and operator of flour and lumber mills in NY, MI and WI. Erected and operated 1st flour mill in Eau Claire.
  • Oliver Gorton b.7/31/1774 New London, CT d.1/21/1863 m. on 1/27/1801 Polly Foster b.1782 d.1862. Moved to New Lisbon, NY (now Garrettsville) Otsego Co. NY.
  • John Gorton b.6/2/1742 d.5/14/1819 Hancock, MA m. on 2/2/1764 Mary Manwarring b.8/31/1744 d.3/4/1776 New London, CT but moved to Richmond, NH bought 80 acres of land (9/21/1786) sold this farm receiving payment in currently circulating currency which was repudiated by the legislature before he could re-invest. The Society of Friends, of which he was a member, presented him with a sum of money to make up a part of his loss. Established a weaving and retail cloth business in North Adam, MA. Moved in 1800 to Hancock,MA.
  • William Gorton b. ? Mashapaug (now Cranston)RI d. 11/12/1761-drown on the Hudson when boat capsized. M. Lydia Collins b. 1714 Westerly, RI d. 11/20/1809 Waterford, CT.
  • John Gorton b.1675 m.2/2/1700 Patience Hopkins. Freeman at Warwick 1696.
  • John Gorton b.? d.2/3/1741 m.1/25/1665 or 1666 Margaret "Wooten" [Weeden or Wheaton]. On 10/3/1677 granted 5,000 acres in E. Greenwich by King Phillip.
  • Samuel Gorton b. Lancashire, England in town of Gorton (now incorporated within the city of Manchester) d. Warwick, RI between 11/27 and 12/10/1677. Baptized 2/12/1592 or 1593 in Cathedral Church Manchester, England. Married Mary Maplett baptized 3/12/1608 or 1609 in St. Lawrence Jewry London. Emigrated from England in 1637. Founder of Warwick, RI in 1642.  Wikipedia has interesting articles and books referencing the troubles of the outspoken Samuel Gorton in and around England and MA.
